Unveiling an Unique Steam Demo: Playing as a Poop on a Quest to Arrive at the Toilet
Steam Next Fest is currently underway, and gamers have encountered a variety of engaging independent titles. However, one catches the eye for its offbeat concept. Named Unko Technica, this retro-inspired jumping adventure includes a hero that is literally a piece of poop trying to travel to a toilet. In case you're wondering, "Unko" means "poop."
Player controls is simple: just use a jump control. Throughout numerous stages, encounter mini-bosses and visit a market to buy outfits for your dung hero.
Time your movements carefully, since one error forces starting over. Bounce on air pockets to hurl yourself upward, traverse fragile platforms, and touch switches to open secret routes. Collect UN-KOINS to purchase challenging stages in which things gets crazy.
Graphically, the demo boasts neon stages and catchy soundtrack. The simple art featuring moving basic polygons could recall gamers of old favorites like Earthbound.
While it's difficult to name previous releases where you play as a dung character, gaming have long included fecal matter. For instance, in Death Stranding, players craft explosives from character droppings. Examples include Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved utilize feces as fertilizer. And of course, this theme shows up heavily in Obsidian's South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.
Despite its silly premise, Unko Technica has already garnered notable recognition, like being named best at a major publisher's GYAAR Studio in 2023. A playable preview is ready now on Steam, with the full game set to debut on PC on November 19.
