Springfield's Favorite Family Makes Its Debut in Psyonix's Hit Game: Unfortunately Not the Vehicle You're Dreaming Of

It was previously announced that The Simpsons was teaming up with Epic Games' battle royale, but that's not the only place where fans can immerse themselves in the universe of Springfield. The long-running series is also making its way to Rocket League, introducing an in-game car skin that will also be usable in the Fortnite universe. That said, if gamers will actually want to equip it is a different matter, as there's only one Springfield car everyone is itching to get behind the wheel of, and this new offering isn't that one.

The Dream Vehicle

While many players would undoubtedly love to compete behind the wheel of Homer's custom creation—the notoriously impractical car the patriarch built personally in the classic installment "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?"—that's not what's being offered. We aren't even getting the massive SUV, the heavy-duty vehicle featured in season 10. Rather, players will obtain the Simpsons' standard well-worn four-door, which has been in the family since 1989. Though this specific vehicle has accumulated plenty of miles, it stands as an iconic symbol of the series. For those who analyze the game's car hitboxes, the Simpson family car shares the same hitbox as the Dominus.

More Than Just a Car

And it's not the only customization item from the series arriving in the game. This limited-time event will also include a set of challenges to earn additional rewards, all of which are inspired by the show. According to a official announcement, the challenges will task participants to "get as many centers and clears as there are The Simpsons seasons, gather boost canisters as if your GPS is set to the Simpson residence, and drive a distance sufficient for acquiring the perfect donuts!"

Although the complete list of challenge rewards hasn't been disclosed, here is what's been announced so far:

  • Blinky antenna topper
  • Homer's Hedges player banner
  • Waste wheels
  • 20,000 XP per challenge

Based on promotional images is any indication, it appears fans will also get wheels with a TV showing The Simpsons' title sequence, Kang and Kodos topper, a sprinkled donut boost trail, and rocket boosts themed to burning tires and Krusty Burger.

Event Timing and Fortnite Connection

This event lines up with the major The Simpsons invasion of Fortnite's island, which includes a completely new map of the fictional town, in addition to a month-long Battle Pass. The Rocket League x The Simpsons celebration begins on Saturday, Nov. 1 and ends on Nov. 17.
