One-time National Football League Star Antonio Brown Enters Not Guilty Plea in Murder Attempt Trial
Former NFL star Antonio Brown is heading to Miami to face an attempted murder charge connected with a shooting that happened in May, with his attorney filing a not guilty response on his behalf.
Jail records in Essex, New Jersey, indicate that Brown was freed on Tuesday morning for his move to Florida. Brown, among the most famous figures in the NFL, had forgone extradition to Florida from New Jersey, in which he was taken after being arrested in Dubai.
Brownâs attorney, Mark Eiglarsh, stated in an message that he has previously submitted a written not guilty response to the attempted murder allegation. Brown could be in a Miami court as early as Wednesday early for a bail hearing, Eiglarsh stated.
According to his arrest document, Brown is charged of taking a pistol from a safety staffer after a celebrity boxing contest in May and firing multiple shots at a man he had confronted with previously. The alleged target, Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, told investigators that one of the bullets grazed his throat.
Eiglarsh asserted that Brown was only protecting himself from Nantambu.
âThe steps he was compelled to take were solely in defense against the reported personâs hostile actions. Brown was assaulted that night and behaved within his legal entitlement to defend himself,â Eiglarsh said.
Brown was not right away detained because originally officers did not consider Nantambu as a affected party. It only afterward in May that Nantambu delivered a complete account about the event to police and named Brown as the gunman, the report states.
